RACE REPORT

A glorious morning on Sunday saw 430 runners competing for line honors at this year’s 20th run of the Bishops Stortford 10 mile Road Race. We are pleased that the race, as always, attracted many quality competitors from across the South East with Mike Boucher (24) from Aldershot and Farnham eventually getting the better of Matt Linbourne from Luton by only 5 seconds to finish in 55.16. Patrick Palmer of Loughton AC was the first vet home in 57.29. In all there were 21 competitors who finished under the hour. Our old adversary Harlow Running Club was the first team home.

The ladies race was won in super form by 27 year old Rosalind Lewis from Shaftesbury who showed consistent strong running coming back to form after a rest period. Her time 62.27, 110 seconds ahead of Angela Murphy of London Heathside. Angela was however the first lady vet home. In the team event Bishops Stortford were beaten into second by London Heathside. Full results are as attached and thank you to all those that run in making the race an enjoyable event to host.

Next year we plan an even better event with the race "coming of age" on the 21st November 2004. Put date in your diary now!

See you and keep fit
